Martha Mendoza is the second of four daughters to Mexican immigrant parents. She worked from a very young age at small, family-owned businesses. She graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in criminology and criminal justice with a minor in sociology. During her last year of college, she was an intern for the Title IX department; Title IX is a federal law that aims to prevent harassment and sexual assault on college campuses. As an intern there, she put on presentations, ran a student-led workshop, and created flyers; some of her work can still be seen on the department’s website. Martha enjoys listening to music, gardening, and watching knitting tutorials. She is interested in pushing boundaries in regard to social justice, including supporting and working for immigrants’ rights.
