DACA Arrest Consequences
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is an American immigration policy that allows certain non-citizens who entered the US as minors to receive a renewable two year period during which they can stay in the US and apply for a work permit. There is significant political controversy surrounding this program started by the Obama administration and, as a result, there can be a lot of media attention when a DACA recipient has been arrested and charged with a crime. Depending on the outcome of a DACA recipient’s criminal case, he or she could face loss of status or the inability to renew it.
